Explore the world of film, television and sound.
The National Film and Sound Archive is Australia’s audio-visual archive; collecting, preserving and sharing this rich heritage. One of Canberra’s best kept secrets, the National Film and Sound Archive is located close to the Canberra CBD on the edge of the A ustralian National University. Visitors can enjoy exhibitions, live presentations and screenings.
There is a shop that specialises in film and sound gifts, and a cafe which opens out onto the beautiful heritage courtyard. A new state-of-the-art cinema, open from August 2007, features sophisticated dual projection equipment, dramatic lighting, soundscapes and dynamic artworks projected on screen. For screening details and other information, see the website.
