The National Folk Festival lights up Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC) every Easter when the city is frocked up in its golden autumn best, with over 55,000 people attending Australia’s longest running folk festival event (established in 1967). The festival is a family-orientated, fun-filled event with something colourful, cultural and delicious to suit just about every taste in – food, music, dance, circus, vaudeville, spoken word and handmade craft and workshops.
Australia’s festival flagship, the ‘National’, was officially recognised as Australia’s Best Festival Event by winning the Qantas Australian Tourism Award in 2009. With the ever-broadening array of world-class acoustic artists across over 20 venues, the program draws together people from all around Australia and the world. For five days, EPIC becomes a magical place, filled with delectable aromas, colour, sounds, dancing, singing and playing. Wine-bar restaurants, three bars and over thirty food stalls keep the taste buds tantalised with a smorgasbord of world cuisine.
