Canberra’s National Zoo & Aquarium is regarded by many as the best place to visit if you want to have a great time. The zoo features a fantastic cross-section of exotic and native animals, sharks, fish, snakes, lizards and frogs. The animals are all in huge, natural enclosures with viewing generally over moats, not through mesh.
Real excitement is to be had handfeeding many of these animals, including lions, tigers, brown bears and tigons. You can do this by booking the unique ZooVenture Tour— 2-hours of behind-the-scenes fun, feeding and patting many of the zoo’s incredible animals. You can also book Meet-a-Cheetah—15 minutes in the enclosure with 3 adult unrestrained big cats! All activities are available everyday. Bookings are essential.
During a general visit you can see the above animals, plus giraffes, zebras, otters, sun bears, snow leopards, red pandas and many other beautiful species.
