Australia’s newest cultural attraction
The Canberra Glassworks is Australia’s only cultural centre wholly dedicated to contemporary glass art. Housed in the Kingston Powerhouse, Canberra’s oldest public building, the Canberra Glassworks is centrally located next to the Old Bus Depot Markets in the Kingston Foreshore precinct. The facility is a working glassworks and provides opportunities for individuals to interact with and learn about glass making and the heritage of the Kingston Powerhouse building. Visitors can meet artists, watch glass blowing and artists working, view exhibitions, take a tour, purchase a range of glass from the shop or soak up the atmosphere over coffee and lunch at the cafe. Visitors can also experience working with glass through a range of classes and the ‘Off the Street’ program.
Canberra has developed a significant reputation nationally and internationally for the quality and skills of its glass artists. Now everyone can be a part of this creative movement at the Canberra Glassworks.
